Fashion for the Adolescent Man

The Introduction (The Hamburger Bun)

Good evening (insert reader's name here). A little about this blog:

  1. All posts will be and are original based off of my own understanding of mens' and general fashion.
  2. This is a blog about mens' fashion or more so for the adolescent man in the teen years or early 20's.
  3. I'll try to follow a theme to each entry with this being a hamburger theme!
A little about the blogger:
  1. I'm an asian teenage boy/adolescent man in university eager to gain independence.
  2. I have a drive and love of fashion (or at least looking well-dressed).
  3. This is meant to share my knowledge of fashion to those who are interested. Thank you.

Starting Points (The Sauces)

I'll try to keep this casual and open as well as knowledgeable and to the point so reader's don't have to read essays on how to look good. I personally like to follow a guide and steps that dictate how I dress. These are the basic principles I think of when I put together what to wear in order of importance to the overall look.
  1. Colour
  2. Texture
  3. Theme
General Colour (The Bacon)

The reason that i say colour can be the most important aspect of an outfit is because usually, if not always, colour will be the first thing somebody notices about what someone's outfit. I mean while it may not be of importance to the colour-blind, a pop of colour of the body can bring focus to the shoes, the scarf, the bracelet or any other article you want people to notice. For starters, focus on bringing only two colours to the body rather than more. Focus on different colours IN BALANCE by having one colour up top with a shirt and a different colour on the bottoms with pants. Later, i'll get into detail about how to balance colours, how to wear more as well as discuss focus, accessories, and colour palettes.

General Texture (The Meat)

What i mean by texture is the fabric of which the clothes are made, the most common being cotton and the less often ones would be fabrics like wool, cashmere and silk. The reason that i put texture second is because after noticing the colours on a person (whether too many or too few), you may notice the texture of the clothes.  Imagine looking at someone wearing bright sequins or shiny reflective pants with really dull and muted sweaters. The picture might not be pretty and what people may notice is the difference in textures. The importance is to have similar textures to bring balance to an outfit. For starters, focus on simple cotton and denim while taking care to avoid heavy knits or silky fabrics. Focus on tees, sweaters, jeans, trousers and pretty much anything made of cotton. Later, i'll explain different textures, starting with one texture and how incorporate similar and different textures as well as layering them.

General Theme (The Lettuce)

The reason that this aspects stands last or separate among the three is that for the adolescent or casual man, there aren't many occasions in which there is a theme to follow or reason to pull out the suit (whether it be a superman suit or formal suit). Exceptions would include weddings as well as other black tie events and the occasional themed parties. This will be left until the first two points have been discussed as it would be difficult to explain without having related colour palettes into the theme. For starters, don't worry about a theme unless you really need to and in that case, associate colour palettes to the appropriate theme. An example would be if the theme was underwater, colours or accessories to be worn could be pearls, blues to represent the water, sequins to represent rippling water, beige to represent sand, etc etc.

Closing Notes (The Hamburger Bun)

I hope this fashion blog wasn't as dry as eating cardboard but i definitely plan to blog more (omg i'm a blogger now....wow..). With this being my first post, i would like to end on a more modest note: focus on what you like and do that, don't focus on fashion "don'ts" or trends because wearing your own style is more important than wearing someone else's.

Until next time, thanks for reading and idk how this works but reply or do whatever - just don't hate, this world has already got enough of that. Night everyone :)
